ANNOUNCEMENTS

Grace Presbytery is hosting regional gatherings to open discussion and dialog on the actions of the 219th General Assembly which was held in Minneapolis in July. The regional gathering that is closest to Stephenville will be held this afternoon at 3 PM at United Presbyterian Church in Cleburne.  Come meet some of the Commissioners.

Grace Presbytery invites everyone to be their guest at the next Faith & Grief Luncheon, on Wednesday, September 1, 2010, from Noon to 1:00 PM at Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, 8011 Douglas at Colgate in Dallas. There is no charge for lunch. Reservations are required. Call (214) 413-1597 and leave a message.

Monday, September 6th, is Labor Day and the church office will be closed.

The new study books are in for Presbyterian Women’s Bible Study which begins in the fall.  Our first meeting will be on Tuesday, September 7th, both at 10:00 AM and at 6:30 PM.  Our new study is on the book of Revelations.  Study books are $6 each and are available in the church office.

Russell Bowden is our elected Commissioner to the next meeting of Grace Presbytery on Friday, September 10th, in Tyler, Texas.

It is time for the training of the next class of STARS - Students Taking Action Regarding Spirituality to begin.  This program, open to students that are in the 9th - 12th grades, is a youth led program where youth with gifts of teaching and leadership are nurtured into leaders.  When their training is completed, these young people are then called upon to lead in events across the presbytery such as YouthQuakes and Fall Worship Celebrations.  The first training class for this year's class is September 11, 2010 beginning at 10:00 am and going until 3:00 pm at the Presbyterian Mission Center.  Other classes will be in October, November, January, February, and March.  Applications are available on the presbytery website.

The first meeting of the Presbyterian Women this fall is on Saturday, September 11th at noon in our Fellowship Hall. We have a special program planned on the Church of South India, that is a collaboration of ideas and photos from Leesa Levisay, Eloise Horak, and Diane Netherland.  Bring a salad to share and learn what other great programs are planned for the fall!

All the tickets to the Texas Rangers baseball game on Saturday, September 11th have been sold!  It promises to be a great evening with twenty people from First Presbyterian Church and eleven people from Grace First Presbyterian Church in Weatherford filling thirty-one seats in section 336.  They are playing the New York Yankees and the game begins at 7:05 PM.  We will be carpooling from the church parking lot.

ACT, Too, is coming to a church close to you!  The Congregational Support Committee has four regional leadership conferences for Grace Presbytery churches.  This regional structure replaces the centralized leadership event, ACT, that has been held in previous years.  Locations for ACT, Too, include: September 25th at Central Presbyterian Church in Waco; October 9th at First Presbyterian Church in Granbury; November 6th at First Presbyterian Church in Tyler; and February 5 at Austin College.
